MiCROTEC log scanner CT-Log uses the computed tomography method to sort round logs, which allows creating a 3D complete image of the round log being sorted and describing the size and location of the log’s internal wood defects.
For example, it is possible to identify the number, diameter and location of knots. Determining the difference in material density allows the detection of rot.
The use of CT-Log X-ray technology allows for precise sorting of logs according to the best output and quality.
If the CT-Log scanner is located on the log sorting line, a unique image of each log is stored in the database. If a 2D X-ray scanner is installed in front of the saw line to identify the log ID, the unique file corresponding to the given log previously prepared by CT-Log is searched from the database and thus it is possible to position the log on the saw line according to the best cutting plan. If the CT-Log scanner is located immediately before the saw line (mostly used in hardwood processing), then the optimal log positioning data is transmitted directly to the saw line.
