Description
In addition to conventional sorting lines with descending boxes or horizontal pockets (horizontal conveyors), the wood industry has developed a need for combined planer-scanner sorting lines. Such sorting lines are usually intended for pre-sorting dry lumber in larger volumes for the glulam industry, CLT production plants, or for more accurate and better grading of lumber (special products from the USA and Japan). In this case, after the package is destack, the moisture content of the material is measured, and the strength of the material is sorted either by the “knock method” or by longitudinal scanning in a scanner (or in the case of higher classes C30/C40, by a combination of the knock method and an X-ray scanner).
